Here in the South, we LOVE our cocktails. Every Friday we like to share a new Southern Traditional, Southern-Created or Southern-Inspired Cocktail Recipe that we know you will enjoy.
Today’s Southern Cocktail, The Mississippi Punch Cocktail, is possibly the second oldest recipe we have published (after The Old Fashioned) — but tastes like it was created by one of today’s superstar bartenders.
Southern Cocktail #18 is Mississippi Punch Cocktail
Mississippi Punch Cocktail, first appearing in Jerry Thomas’s The Bon Vivant’s Companion in 1862, finds its origins somewhere “along the Mississippi,” according to cocktail historian, David Wondrich.
