Today’s Southern Cocktail is a gentle Southern twist on the popular ’90s drink, the Cosmo.
Southern Cocktail #14 is Montecosmo Cocktail
The Montecosmo cocktail was created by bartender Greg Dox of Downing Street, Houston, TX. He named it after the brand of Guatemalan aged rum he likes to serve, Montecristo, which is an excellent choice for any cocktail.

Montecosmo Cocktail Recipe
Yield: 1
Materials
- Ice
- 1 1/2 ounce aged Rum
- 1/2 ounce Cointreau or other Triple Sec
- 1/2 ounce Cranberry Juice
- 1/4 ounce freshly squeezed Lime Juice
- 1 Lemon Twist to garnish
Instructions
- Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
- Add rum, Cointreau and both juices. Shake well.
- Strain into a well-chilled martini glass.
- Garnish with lemon twist.
