Here in the South, we LOVE our cocktails. Every Friday the Southern Foodies like to share one of our favorite Southern-Traditional, Southern-Created or Southern-Inspired Cocktail Recipes we know you will enjoy.
Today’s Southern Cocktail is a delicious drink, But it is even more fun to play around with.
Southern Cocktail #17 is The Baudin Cocktail
Residing in a building that started life in 1910 as a pumping station to drain the swamps and became a bar for the first time in the 1920s, 12 Mile Limit is the brainchild of Coquette and Commander’s Palace alum, T. Cole Newton. Under this new identity the bar has received national acclaim, routinely being listed as one of the top bars in the city.
The Baudin Cocktail has entered my rotation. I almost always have the ingredients on hand and I love to play around with the hot sauce. I have tried it with several different hot sauces from my collection and enjoy tasting how the different flavors and levels of heat change the overall flavor of the cocktail.
Visit 12 Mile Limit on the Web at twelvemilelimit.com and in the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans at 500 S. Telemachus Street.
